Red Barn in Thorpe

One my favorite times of day to ride a bike is right at dawn. Everything takes on a reddish glow, there is hardly any traffic and the air is sweet. The road belongs to the cyclist and the day is filled with possibility. The reference photo for this painting was taken by my talented husband while he was riding his bike.

This is a 10″ x 14″ watercolor on Arches cold press paper.

I agree doing anything at dawn makes it better. The world is quiter and you can just soak in the peacefulness.

The cyclist in me enjoys your painting. Brings back memories cycling in rural areas.

You did better treatment of the landscape this painting along with your cyclist. 🙂

I like it, Mimi; and I used to LOVE riding a bike too…for the very same reasons.

I agree with you, dawn is magical in its own way and you’ve captured its essence.
I adore the way you depicted the ethereal sky, blue and innocent.
This work truly draws one in, wanting to be a part of the road trip.

It looks like a wonderfully peaceful place for a bike ride – The softness of your watercolors is beautiful 🙂

Personally love barns, and I’ve been getting up earlier to try and catch sunrises. You’re right ~ there is a golden or pinkish glow to everything, and it makes for beautiful pictures ~ and watercolors 🙂 Great job!
