Christmas Commission

One of the most challenging commissions I can get is of a person who can’t pose for me because they are deceased. This particular subject was of a teenaged girl, a tricky combination of a little girl and a young woman, so I found it particularly hard to actually see how old she was in the few photos I had to work from. I actually had to paint the portrait twice before I found her. Winsome and sweet, here she is. Forever young.

The Rare Andean Cat

December 24th, 2014 1 comment

andeancatHigh up in the arid hills of the Andes live a very small population of wild cats. They are considered the small cat analog to the snow leopard, and belong to one of the rarest and least known of all the cat species. They are endangered, due to over-hunting and habitat encroachment.
There exists a group, the Andean Cat Alliance, who are working to learn about these cats while preserving habitat and educating the people who share the land with them. I support them by selling my paintings and spreading the word about this cat.
This painting measures 11″ x 14″ and it is for sale for $250.00. All proceeds go directly to the Andean Cat Alliance. Help me keep this winsome little cat alive!

Kona Kailua sunset

konasunsetThis Christmas, in memory of my mother, Carmen Flak, we all went to Hawaii to enjoy the tropical sun. This is a view from the home we rented. We were treated with gorgeous sunsets, lots of sunshine, and perfect pineapple, papaya, and avocados. I think my mother would have enjoyed seeing her grandsons in the surf.
