She always has carrots

shehascarrotsSometimes I see something that I want to paint backwards. I really liked all the shadows in a photo I saw, and thought, I will just paint those shadows and see what happens. And while I was at it, I also used some kind of crazy colors, just to see what would happen. After a bit of feverish painting, these horses appeared. They are excited because someone has come to visit them bearing treats. These horses can be yours for the sum of $175.00. The painting measures 11 x 14″ and is on Fine Arches watercolor paper. All proceeds go directly to wild life conservancy.

  1. I REALLY like this one! The colors, the movement and I think your choice of colors is not crazy at all!

  2. Dear Mimi, lovely, as is all your art. I’m intrigued by the technique you used–painting shadows. It reminds me of what I’ve read about Japanese paintings.

I’ve been away from reading blogs for other a month now and so I’ve missed your fine art. I hope to see a lot of it in the future. Peace.
